The sixth-highest mountain in the world, located on the Nepal Tibet border, Cho Oyu is renowned for being one of the most accessible 8,000-meter peaks. Its moderate slopes, well-established routes, and breathtaking Himalayan views make it an ideal choice for climbers seeking a challenging yet achievable high-altitude expedition.
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. In the evening, there will be a short briefing about the expedition and a welcome dinner with the climbing team.
These days are dedicated to expedition preparation. Climbers check personal gear, complete documentation, and finalize permits for travel into Tibet.You will meet the expedition leader and Sherpa team for a detailed climbing plan and safety briefing.
Early morning scenic drive through the hills of Nepal to the Nepal–Tibet border at Rasuwagadhi Border. After immigration formalities, continue to Gyirong (Kerung).
A rest day helps the body begin acclimatizing to higher altitudes. Short hikes around the valley help improve oxygen adaptation.
Drive across the vast Tibetan plateau with spectacular views of Himalayan peaks including Mount Everest and Shishapangma.
Continue driving across the Tibetan plains to reach Cho Oyu Chinese Base Camp, the road head for the expedition.
Sorting expedition equipment, preparing loads for yaks, and organizing supplies for the trek to Advanced Base Camp.
Gradual trek along glacier and moraine terrain toward Advanced Base Camp, the main operational base for the climb.
Several days are spent resting and acclimatizing. Climbers practice rope techniques and review safety systems. Short hikes on nearby ridges help improve adaptation.
During this period, climbers complete acclimatization rotations and a summit push via the Northwest Ridge route.
After the summit attempt and dismantling higher camps, the expedition descends back to Chinese Base Camp.
Drive back across the Tibetan plateau to Kerung. Time to relax and celebrate the completion of the climb
Return to Nepal via the Rasuwagadhi border and drive back to Kathmandu.
Free day for rest, shopping, or sightseeing in Kathmandu. In the evening, a farewell dinner celebrates the successful completion of the expedition.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international departure.
