Advanced Skill Extremely Difficult (Alpine TD+/ED – Très Difficile to Extrêmement Difficile)
When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest and recover from your long journey. In the evening, we will have a short meeting to introduce the team and briefly explain the expedition plan. Overnight at the hotel.
Today we complete all permit formalities and check your climbing equipment carefully. We make sure everything is ready for high altitude. We also pack expedition cargo that will go to Base Camp. In the evening, we will have a detailed briefing about the route, safety, and acclimatization plan. Overnight at the hotel.
Early in the morning we took a scenic flight to Tumlingtar with beautiful mountain views. After landing, we move to a local lodge and organize our loads for the next day’s drive. Overnight at lodge.
Today we drove by jeep for about 6–7 hours along rough mountain roads following the Arun River. Num is the starting point of our trek. Overnight at a local teahouse.
Our trek begins with a steep descent to the Arun River, then we cross a suspension bridge and climb gradually to Seduwa. Walking time is around 5–6 hours (8 km). Overnight at the teahouse.
A moderate 4–5 hour walk through villages and forest brings us to Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement before high altitude. Overnight at the teahouse.
Today is a harder climbing day. We walked uphill through the forest for about 6–7 hours. Depending on conditions, we stay in a basic lodge or tent camp.
We cross high passes including Shipton La and Keke La, enjoying beautiful Himalayan views before descending to Mumbuk. Walking time is about 6–7 hours. Overnight in a lodge or tent.
We follow the Barun Valley with gradual altitude gain. The walk takes around 6–7 hours (9–10 km). Overnight at a teahouse or tent.
A shorter and steady walk of about 4–5 hours across alpine terrain brings us to Yak Kharka. This is an important acclimatization stop. Overnight in a tent.
We walk across rocky and glacial terrain for 6–7 hours to reach Base Camp of Makalu (8,485 m). The view of the mountain is impressive. We stayed in a fully organized expedition tent camp.
Today is for rest and proper acclimatization. We may take short hikes above Base Camp to help the body adjust. The climbing Sherpa team will prepare equipment, and we will review technical skills and finalize the climbing plan. Overnight at Base Camp.
We walked 3–4 hours across the glacier to establish Advanced Base Camp. This will be our forward base for rotations to higher camps. Accommodation is in high-altitude tents.
During this time, we make acclimatization rotations to Camps I, II, III, and IV. Our Sherpa team fixes ropes and prepares the route. When the weather is good, we make our summit attempt. All nights are spent in high-altitude tents.
After finishing the climb and packing Base Camp, we descended about 6–7 hours back to Yangle Kharka. Overnight in a lodge or tent.
We continue descending through alpine terrain for 6–7 hours covering 11 km. Overnight in a basic lodge or tent.
A longer trekking day of 6–7 hours (13 km) brings us back into forested lower terrain and the village of Tashigaon. Overnight at the teahouse.
We descend further for about 6–7 hours covering 11 km until we reach Num again. Overnight at the teahouse.
We take a 6–7 hour jeep drive back to Tumlingtar. Overnight at lodge.
In the morning, we fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, we celebrate together with a farewell dinner and share memories of the expedition. Overnight at the hotel.
